The Shoot:
As this was my first shoot of this semester and from my initial ideas, I was slightly nervous, as I had self doubt that maybe I had perhaps made my first concept simple or that I should have waited for more studio time to create my look. My outlook on this situation was that in industry I possibly wont have hours and hours and may have to get a shoot down in just an hour anyway, this way I was preparing myself and getting in vital practice, seeing what I was able to achieve in the time allocated for this shoot.
The Shoots Concept:
I wanted to use a model that preferably had long blonde hair, natural eyebrows and a strong facial shape. I wanted this type of model as for my advertisement shoot, I wanted to have a Cara Delevigne vibe, taking inspiration from YSL Beaute and their choice of models (Cara Delevigne). My model Hannah, seemed to tick all these boxes for me and I felt as if my scouting and professional eye was used correctly. Over the last two years at Solent, it has become apparent to me that the correct model can make or break a shoot and the kind of look the artist/creative wants to get across. This is the same in the industry and vainly it is something that I have begun to put into practice starting from last semester.
As the make-up collection has a theme of pink and green running through out it (the colours of the products and the packaging), I want to incorporate this into a few of the looks I am going to create. As this is the 'Day' look for the advertising section of the 6 shoots, I will have the main focus on the lips, using a strong fuchsia pink lip, dewy skin, and a strong brow. The hair will be kept straight, with a central parting, but with a slight messy look to it.
For the background of my shoot I want to use a hot pink colourama to match the lip, the jacket that the model will be placed in will be the stand out colour, it is to look like the tuxedo that most YSL models are placed in for their advertisements. I will be using soft boxes as the lighting to soften the skin, making it easier for me in post production.
Here is the mood board for my first shoot, I believe this gets across the types of poses I want, as well as the clothing, hair and make-up.
