Herb Ritts and his photography - Inspiration

For my editorial pictures I really wanted to take some inspiration from photographers as the unit features a lot of photography skills. As I believe I have improved my photography skills immensely since last year. I have found that it is something that really interests me and something I want to improve on over the next and perhaps feature in my FMP. Back to this years unit, I looked at Herb Ritts and how he creates beautiful and sometimes nude black and white portraits.

I know right now I want to create some type of look which involves a dewy skin and possibly a wet look hair so using his pictures as inspiration is perfect.

Here are some of my favourite.

Madonna (True Blue Profile), Hollywood 1986

I feel like Herb Ritts will have major impact on the way I take my pictures for my editorials, I love his style and how he has this almost angelic natural posing about his models. The certain colouring and contrast on his pictures in the black and white and sepia modes is beautiful.

I really want to take the wet look shots as a main inspiration as I think it really goes well with a fresh spring/summer look. Ritts seems to look at the more simple aspects of the body, something I really want to focus on as YSL really love combining femininity and masculinity with the expression of fashion and the body.
